Job description – Senior Developer

We’re looking for an experienced, creative full-stack Python/Django developer to join our small team in Amsterdam.

You’ll be working on the continuing development of Qoinware, both enhancing the core and working on specific client projects and features, contributing new code and dealing with bug reports. You’ll be integrating with a wide range of third party providers, some from the conventional financial world and some not. You’ll be working as part of a small, distributed team, and you’ll have a lot of freedom to contribute design and architecture ideas to the solution.

Desired Skills and Experience

This position is suitable for you if you have between 2-5 years commercial experience in web software development. We expect that you have a university degree (Bachelors level or higher) and some formal qualifications in computer science and/or programming. That said, we are also open to exceptional candidates who lack some or all of these qualifications, provided that you demonstrate suitable all-round knowledge and abilities.

Your skills and experience must include:

  • Python, Django, jQuery/AJAX, html, css, good working knowledge of MySQL and/or other database platforms
  • Distributed source control software such as Git or Mercurial
  • Working with third party APIs, JSON, SOAP, REST

Candidates with any of the following skills and experience will be preferred:

  • Exposure to financial systems
  • *nix sysadmin & deployment software such as Docker
  • Working on open source software projects
  • Java, Tomcat

As we are a small organisation, we naturally prefer all rounders who are proactive, able to think on their feet and come up with innovative approaches to problems.

Location – You will be partly or wholly based at our central Amsterdam office – we offer flexible working arrangements. You will report to the IT manager.

Language – Qoin’s office environment is bi-lingual (Dutch/English). If you do not already speak Dutch, you will be encouraged to learn and attend a Dutch language course partly during working hours.

Culture – The office culture is informal. Good coffee is on tap, and we have a communal lunch every day.

Salary – Depending on experience, probably in the range €50K – €70K gross per annum.

Contract – Six-month fixed term contract with option to extend and become permanent.

Hours – This is a fulltime post (40 hours per week).

Holiday – 25 days per annum, with one additional day for each year of service, up to a maximum of 35 days
