Primarily the P for planet concerns the environment itself. Still, there is a lot more to the last P when it comes to CSR. It involves the development of cleaner products, the way of handling genetic manipulation and the level to which sustainable technologies are practiced at your organisation. Next to this, it also includes animal rights, such as:
  • physical integrity
  • a healthy and stress free environment
  • natural behaviour
  • food that fits the type of animal
  • a life with as little pain as possible and the right to a painless death

Moreover, it means:

  • Preventing unintentional victims among animals, for example during fishing
  • Environmentally friendly processes; during production and when getting rid of litter the organisation should always take account for the environmental consequences (air, water, soil, climate, biodiversity, health).
  • Avoiding genetic manipulation whenever possible, especially when it concerns food production. Stakeholders expect transparent information on this subject, because many reject gentech.
  • Fair marketing; honest claims, no window dressing or green washing and integrity when it comes to addressing vulnerable and easily influenced target groups.

Profit is related to both people and planet:

  • Planet: improvement of the environment;
  • People: more chances for minorities
  • People: improvement of the social environment (e.g. through security of the neighbourhood)
  • People: the foundation of professional associations as soon as companies offer their financial support.
